Intro / aka - Who is Howie Day... and why do we care?
Howie Day is an American singer-songwriter born January 15, 1981 in Bangor, Maine. Unlike most solo performers who perform mainly with just an acoustic guitar, Howie Day uses various foot pedals to enhance his playing and "loop" chords. This "looping effect" allows him to build up a song by playing rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass guitar, and even tap on his guitar to produce a drum sound. When the whole process is complete, it sounds as if a full band was on stage. Howie Day also uses this process on his voice, harmonizing with himself. The whole process is done in front of the audience in real time as opposed to pre-recording--a common misconception among audience members seeing Howie Day for the first time. 2008.04.26 - Forums On the Fritz?
As one forum user coined it, the forums appear to have been 'on the fritz'.
I've fixed this problem.
For those technologically minded people -- I had initially used a PHP extension called 'Tidy' to clean up submitted messages to the forum into valid HTML. Within the code, the presence of Tidy is detected. I removed Tidy, for other reasons and life went on. We've recently migrated servers in January and then last month, the hard drive began to fail on the server. I was not all together pleased, but backed up everything, took the server down, had my colocation team install a new hard drive (two actually) on a RAID system so that if a hard drive fails in the future, the second hard drive kicks in with an identical mirror image copy.
So ... while loading everything up, Tidy was reinstalled and it turns out that my code is no longer compatible with current releases of Tidy and thus, we have an error.
He has left a little message on his myspace, read it here and listen to his new track "Everyone Loves To Love A Lie."
From MySpace:
updates........
Hello out there!
I have gone through a lot of the past couple of years, both personally and professionally, and have taken the last few months to try and sort things out. I can't thank you guys enough for being there for me through everything!!
I am hoping to finish up my album this spring, and in the meantime I wanted to give you guys a little taste of the music, so I have put up a new song "Everyone Loves to Love a Lie".
Also, I'm heading out in mid-February with Jay Clifford to do a few solo acoustic shows. I'll play some new material (as well as some old songs too), and hope that you guys can make it out to one of those. We are only hitting a few markets, but I can't wait to go back to some of my favorite, intimate rooms for what I hope can be amazing nights....

Day is presently touring a handful of cities across the United States with Jay Clifford. In addition, www.howieday.com has been redirected to Howie's MySpace page!
I've been recently updating Howie's MySpace page with information that I personally have tried my best to fact check and confirm privately. It's difficult to do so without management providing information in a press release, however, after my creation of the 'Untitled Third Album' page (and subsequent fixing of the track list that a renegade fan decided to add 'Lick My Lips' and 'Girl Next Door' to), the following paragraph was added yesterday:
On February 8th 2008, Howie posted a message to his myspace along with
a new song from the upcoming album, the song, "Everyone Loves To Love A
Lie" is a track not featured on the leaked tracklist, also in the
message Howie stated he was still working on the album and hoped to
finish up sometime in the spring. meaning the leaked tracklist is
either a fake, or simply tracks he recorded in 2006 and 2007 with Kevin
Griffin producing, which may be a scrapped project at this juncture.
The post was anonymous from an IP address associated with this update tracks back to the Reston, Virginia. It's anyone's guess who posted this, however it's well written and I'm inclined to believe every last word of it. (Use of the world 'juncture' and careful positioning of the world 'may' aren't exactly hallmarks of someone vandalizing Wikipedia).
So, is it safe to say that the Stop All the World Now Era is over and it's time to look forward at 2008? Howie's recent activity seems to be saying just that!
2007.01.25 - Howie Day / Jay Clifford - February 15 at Schuba's Tavern
This just in from Phil de la Vega, one of our regularly contributing visitors:
Hi Chris,
Thought
I'd send this to you. I live in Chicago and am on the Schubas mailing
list. Howie's playing Schubas on February 15! I don't know if this is a
full fledged tour, or just one Chicago show, but I thought I'd forward
it to you and let you know that Howie's hitting the road, and soon too,
in a few weeks.
Check out the forwarded message below. He's playing with Jay Clifford.

I have updated Howie's wikipedia page with all of the information on the third album that I feel is safe to confirm.
Previously, some one posted that Howie was recently found drugged out at a party that Britney had abandoned him at. Sure, I'm rephrasing it, but seriously - there's no reference to where that story came from, and while it might have happened, it sounds like complete and utter BS to me. It was also followed by a reference to this site that both seemed to slightly suggest that we'd posted news on this situation and that we have defacto information.
The only official information about Howie Day can be found at www.howiefan.com. If it's not directly from management or a credible newspaper, it's not official information.
The thing is, even if Howie enjoys cross-dressing and appearing at drag shows in Florida, it's not celebrity news unless its confirmed. Heresay is worthless. There are many things that I've heard from fans that I could post here - after show 'experiences' where Howie was [nice/mean/awesome/awful/kind/selfish] - rumous about the new album, etc. - But I don't. Why? It's irresponsible unless the information can be referenced.
I've recently posted some information that I feel is pretty solid, but without references, it is only a rumor. Things change all the time.
So, his Wikipedia page is edited. The Balance EP that is allegedly appearing on iTunes is removed as I have not been able to find ANYTHING to substantiate this. A Third Album page is added, because yes, to my knowledge, the album was completed and was sent off to be mixed. If Balance is readded by management, it will be curious, but as it is, there is nothing to speak of going on in the Howie Day camp.
From what I have heard (unconfirmed by the Howiecamp of course...) is that Howie has now straightened himself out and it heading back into the studio to resume work on the as-yet-untitled-third-album, with a release scheduled sometime either late 2007/early 2008.
Time to dig out your old Howie collections guys, and get re-aquainted with his stuff and pull out those old Howie t-shirts from the back of the wardrobe and get ready to hear a single...due out this year!!
